What do HECKLEBACK, WOMMACKY, BLATTEROON, STILLICIDE, ALEUROMANCY, LERP, GILLAROO, TRULLIBUBS, GOWDANOOK, CATAROLYSIS, REFOCILLATION and JIRGLE have in common?
Very little – except that they were the words which formed the basis of the Circle’s game of Call My Bluff. This was a first for the Circle – a (successful) experiment of a post-monthly meeting activity.
In the style of the old TV programme, a trio of Brothers (Andrew, Chris and David) took on a Ladies team of Hilary, Liz and Tricia / Jane, with each team taking it in turn to define a chosen word three different ways. The opposing team then had to guess which was correct. The proceedings were chair my Crawley’s Brother Michael ‘Robert Robinson’ Pioli.
With the Brothers guessing correctly twice (and the ladies not at all!) the final score was 8-4 to the Brothers. But it isn’t the winning but the taking part…
